✍️ About the Author

Sushmita Bandyopadhyay was an Indian writer whose life inspired readers around the world. After marrying Afghan businessman Jaanbaz Khan in 1988, she moved to Afghanistan, where she experienced the rise of the Taliban firsthand. Escaping their oppression in 1995, she returned to Kolkata and documented her experiences in bestselling books, including Kabuliwalar Bangali Bou and Mullah Omar, Taliban O Ami.

In 2013, she returned to Afghanistan to continue her work and was tragically killed, making her memoir an enduring testament to her extraordinary courage and determination.
